Our mission
We envision a world in which everyone – including orphans, abandoned children, people with disabilities, the elderly and others – has equal rights and access to resources to develop themselves and lead a happy and productive life as part of the larger community and with respect to nature.
Our objectives:
- To promote and provide quality education to children to empower them with the knowledge and skills to build a better future. This includes programs to help with their tuition fees or by providing school supplies
- To teach children on a variety of topics, such as health, information technology and conservation
- To educate and empower the local communities about the importance of wildlife, wildlife conservation, and conservation of natural resources
- To promote human rights and gender equality in society, including education
- To undertake any work that promotes general welfare of the people by meeting their needs (food, clothing, access to medical care)
- To build an orphanage center to take care of children who have been abandoned
- To eliminate early marriages and unwanted pregnancies

Empowering our children
Empowerment, "the process of gaining freedom and power to do what you want or to control what happens to you", is the greatest gift we can give. You do not have to be rich to help, it can be as simple as providing opportunities to help someone along the way.
Our mission at Harbert Foundation Uganda is to make education accessible for all. We aim for access to education not to become a consequence of economic richness and location.
Education is preparation for life, with opportunities often embedded in this - why is this selective?

Sharing our culture
Singing, dancing and laughing, some of the best aspects of our culture. The Bakiga peoples, are known for their shared community. Living alongside the Bakiga are the Bafumbira and Batwa 'pygmies', making Buhoma a cultural haven.
English is widely spoken, and is often treated as a 1st language within schools to encourage potential tourism opportunities for children once they finish their education.
As school fees are costly, many rural families can not access education, making potential employment, a distant dream. We aim to widen this gap by encouraging all local children to dream big..... engineer, doctors, veterinarian and farmer.... maybe one day?

Sustaining our gorillas future
Living in the surrounds of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a gift. The beauty of this area is a precious gift to behold. We aim to inspire our children and the community, to become the future gorilla guardians, ensuring the 'endangered' mountain gorilla can remain safe.
Education equips individuals with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities. It fosters intellectual growth, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving capabilities, which are essential for personal and professional success!
