Urgent - children in need of support

Our friends at Amahle Africa in the UK wrote:

We all come across people in our lives who become part of our family and never leave us. Our recent visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the local town of Buhoma, is in our hearts. We cannot walk away and we certainly cannot just enjoy the village life as part of one of Lou's bucket lists to see the mountain gorilla. Of course this was out of this world, but what this did was showcase how incredible nature can be but also how unfair this can be with 60 + tourists visiting daily at $800 per person with many families living in severe poverty just metres from the forest.

We promise to always be part of this community and to always work tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for these beautiful beings. Many children enriched our hearts on this trip, so we feel it is essential to share this with others.

Asante sana!

Three siblings in desperate need

Three children, two boys, Tugume Gerald (aged 9), Sabiti Philemon (aged 10 years) and girl Ninsiima Meble (aged 11), are all hoping someone is able to sponsor them or contribute towards their school fees.

After hearing in the rural community that their neighbours Isaac & Saviour are now both attending school, the children's mum approached the Harbert Foundation in the hope that someone could sponsor her children. Harbert and his friend Emmy from another non-profit organisation, visited the family the next day to take them food.

Living in a friends house almost 30 mins away from the main road through Buhoma, the family were found to be living in very poor conditions with very few clothing items and no food. The family are now registered with the Harbert Foundation and have since received some basic food supplies and the boys, some clothes. We are trying to source some clothes for Mbele so she does not feel left out.

If anyone can help, please get in touch or donate now, as the children are in desperate need of support. Sabiti would like to join primary 2, Tugume primary 1 and Ninsiima Primary 3. This term includes November and December and if registered before mid-November, they can continue onto the next class for free.

Beautiful joyous Anthony

Anthony is an orphan, and as both parents have passed away, he currently  lives with his elderly grandparents.

Grandpa has a liver problem and has mobility issues. Grandma used to care for the family but is now very poorly with diabetes, stomach ulcers and has HIV/Aids.

Anthony is a very fun loving child, participates in all dancing and singing activities at Harbert Foundation and often leads in traditional dance displays with his friends.

His future as a keen and engaged child is bright, despite what trauma he may experience from losing his own family members. Anthony works hard at school and has a lot of dreams and aspirations. Unfortunately for Anthony, he is often sent home from school as his grandparents cannot pay his fees.

If you can, please keep Anthony in school, he is truly incredible and deserves a chance at a good education.
